The purpose of the association is to promote environmental conservation and cost reduction efforts for individuals or companies engaged in recycling plastics and various commodities and related businesses in Canada. To achieve this, the following objectives are aimed for: promoting consistency, certainty, and ethical practices in the trade and commerce customs and usage among members; defining product standards and terminology; fostering research and development cooperation; acquiring, preserving, and disseminating relevant data and information; facilitating the exchange of ideas for the common interests and welfare of its members; providing voluntary dispute resolution mechanisms for members; and promoting extensive and friendly interaction between businessmen and the public. The undersigned hereby applies for membership in the Institute of Environmental Protection Research Association for Recycling Classification Collection in Canada, ILS, and agrees, if accepted by the Board of Directors, to pay all fees and dues and to abide by the by-laws, guiding principles, and policies of ILS.
We provide information about association activities and industry developments within ILS through newsletters, bulletins, chapter meetings, social media channels, and our website. Members can collaborate with ILS to support local public relations activities. (Support available after July 2024)
Our SustainaBoost Program aims to enhance the best environmental protection activities by supporting local organizations and facilities. This program is designed to help organizations and facilities active in various areas exert a significant environmental impact on their surrounding communities and regions, facilitating participation and influence. By providing environmental protection programs, it promotes sustainable recycling and innovation in waste management.
ILS organizes networking events involving hundreds of participants from various organizations and educational facilities across Canada for environmental events and research. We also prepare networking opportunities with key figures from each organization, educational facility, and collaborating institutions. Our annual convention and chapter meetings provide members with opportunities to meet and collaborate.
ILS provides members with essential resources to reduce environmental taxes in their business operations. Each ILS member company receives an Environmental Management Manual, Human Resources Manual, and Health and Safety Manual, all specifically tailored for the recycling industry. Members receive an annual membership directory and access to the online directory.
Located in ILS’s online members-only area, these pages provide information to keep up-to-date on current regulations and recommended practices that affect the recycling industry. We offer resources addressing key issues related to the collection and processing of various plastic recycling products.
